Introduction to the lesson
You have now finished six chapters of the syllabus. Make sure that you are up to date with your summaries and mind-maps. It may seem like a lot of work now but it will help you a lot when you come to getting ready for the exam. Below are some videos on protein synthesis. This process may seem quite hard to understand but, once you get to grips with it, it is relatively simple. Make sure you know them well as they will be tested in the exam.
Summary
Read the summary on p.123 of your text book.
End-of-chapter questions
- Answer the end-of-chapter questions (p.123-125 of your text book).
- Mark your work (refer to the CD-ROM for answers) and make sure you understand what you did wrong.
Useful resources for chapter six
Protein Synthesis
Khan Academy: a comprehensive explanation of both DNA replication and protein synthesis. If you are struggling to understand the content, this should help you.
Professor Dave: a good explanation of transcription and translation.
From DNA to protein: an excellent animation to give you a visual idea of the process of protein synthesis
Mr W's Protein Synthesis Song: again, a fun way to refresh your memory of protein synthesis.
